Personalizing Your Silkscreen Pins

PRO TIP: DON'T SILKSCREEN SMALL TEXT!
Silkscreen is a great option, especially for small pins, but tiny text may not be a good idea. Keep this in mind when adding silkscreen to your project. Especially if your pins are 1″ or smaller. When receiving your quote, you can check for legibility issues by looking at your pin in the sizing chart. It is located in the bottom right hand side of the proof, and shows your pin at size when printed at 100%.
Silkscreen can only be printed on a raised, flat surface. That means it has to be printed on either metal or hard enamel surfaces. If you’re printing on raised metal, you can choose form any plating option available. However, if you’re printing onto a hard enamel pin, you are restricted to polished platings: gold, silver, copper and black nickel.

If you are using silkscreen pins for branding purposes, adding cardstock to your order will pair well by increasing your branding message. While silkscreen enamel pins can accommodate intricate designs, there are minimum manufacturing specifications that may place design restrictions on small, intricate designs. The best rule of thumb is, as the detail complexity increases, consider also increasing the size of your pin. For example, if you have a 1″ pin, but have small text that will be screen printed onto it, the text might be hard to read. To help you during the design process, we always proof your designs on a hi-resolution proof so that you can see the small detailing, and see whether your design translates well as a silkscreen pin or not.
Our minimum order quantity for silkscreen pins, and all other types of pins, is 100 pins. One thing to consider when deciding on an order quantity, is that there are significant price breaks at larger quantities such as 300, 500, 750, and 1000 order quantities. Increasing the number of pins ordered will significantly increase the overall value of your order by lowering the price you pay per pin.
